Our story
A small team, working the gap between space and the sea
Marmoris is a Dutch Earth Observation company, incubated by the European Space Agency’s Business Incubation Centre in Noordwijk. We use satellite data, academic partnerships, and eDNA biological sampling to monitor coastal and marine environments, and to turn what we observe into evidence people can use.
Marmoris was founded in 2021 after winning a hackathon in which Raising Coral Costa Rica challenged participants to map sedimentation in coastal waters using satellite imagery. That project became the foundation for everything since.
We are a team of four people, not a scaled company, and we like it that way. It means the person who scopes your project is the person who understands the data. We are deliberately specialist: we know exactly what Earth observation can and cannot do for the water, and we will tell you plainly which it is.
Our mission
To replace expensive, infrequent, and invisible monitoring with scalable, auditable intelligence, so that the organisations responsible for our coastal and aquatic ecosystems can act earlier, more effectively, and at lower cost.
- ✓Science backed and audit ready beats fast and loose.
- ✓The best tools are the ones non specialists can act on.
- ✓Ecosystems do not respect boundaries between disciplines, so neither do we.
- ✓Data is the real currency of the Blue Economy.
The team
The people behind the data

Parya Pasha Zadeh
Parya drives the strategic vision and growth of Marmoris, drawing on over 13 years of experience in GIS, Remote Sensing, and the space sector. She specialises in translating academic Earth Observation research into commercial applications, and leads the company’s positioning, partnerships, and business development.

Samantha Krawczyk
Samantha bridges the gap between technology and ecology. She holds an MSc in Environment, Development and Policy alongside more than 15 years of experience as a GIS developer, and has worked with organisations including Rijkswaterstaat and conservation focused bodies across Europe. She translates environmental policy and user needs into the technical specifications that underpin Marmoris’s products.

Jasper Van Doninck
Jasper brings deep academic rigour to the team. He holds a PhD in Earth Observation and over a decade of experience in biodiversity and conservation research. His expertise in advanced satellite image processing and time series analysis is central to how Marmoris turns raw satellite data into defensible, scientifically grounded evidence.

Demi Timmers
Demi holds an MSc in Management of Innovation from Rotterdam School of Management and dual Bachelor’s degrees in International Business Administration and International Communication and Media, all at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Her MSc thesis focused on Earth Observation applications in coastal tourism. At Marmoris she leads strategic marketing and communications, shaping how the company’s work reaches the people who need it.
